Inclusivity at Fire & Stars
Welcoming Everyone to Fire & Stars
Our approach to inclusivity and accessibility in a natural woodland setting.
Enjoy the woodland in your own way
Fire & Stars is a place to slow down, spend time outdoors and enjoy the woodland in the way that works for you. We welcome individuals, couples, families and groups from different backgrounds, and aim to create an environment where guests feel comfortable, respected and able to be themselves.
There is no particular type of person you need to be, and no single correct way to experience the site. Some guests explore for hours. Others are happiest around their pitch, beside a fire or taking part in a sauna session.
A woodland environment designed to feel different
Our quiet-site rules and woodland layout are practical parts of the guest experience, not simply statements on a page.
Quiet by design
Fire & Stars is a no-music campsite and our quiet hours run from 10pm to 7:30am. This creates a calmer environment than many conventional campsites and helps protect the natural sounds of the woodland.
- Useful for guests who prefer lower-stimulation surroundings
- More peace and personal space
- A quieter setting for family woodland camping
- Clear expectations for everyone on site
Space to be yourself
Fire & Stars is not laid out like a tightly packed field campsite. Many pitches feel naturally separated by trees and woodland growth, while the wider site provides room to walk, explore or spend time quietly around your own pitch.
- Large woodland pitches
- Natural separation between many pitches
- Quieter areas within the woodland
- More than 48 acres and over 8km of paths to explore
The degree of separation varies, so please contact us if pitch position is important to your visit.
Choose the experience that suits you
There is no expectation that every guest will use Fire & Stars in the same way.
Bring a tent and settle into a woodland pitch as an individual, couple, family or small group.
Enjoy the woodland setting with the familiar comfort of your own vehicle.
Spend time primarily around your pitch, reading, resting or sitting beside the fire.
Walk the woodland paths, cycle locally or simply choose a short route near camp.
Book the Woodland Sauna without needing to camp or take part in another activity.
Attend a community sauna session or privately book the whole session for your group.
Families are welcome
Fire & Stars is deliberately family-friendly. Children can explore the woodland, enjoy time around the pitch and experience quieter camping away from a tightly packed field.
Different generations can enjoy the same visit differently, whether that means woodland walks, games near camp, reading in a hammock or spending time beside the fire.
Coming on your own is welcome too
You do not need to arrive with a group to enjoy Fire & Stars. Our community sauna sessions are designed to be welcoming whether you come alone, as a couple or with friends. There is no pressure to socialise.
Sauna ages: Community sessions are for guests aged 16 and over. Anyone aged 16 or 17 must attend with an adult. Under-18s may attend when the whole session is privately booked. Read the Sauna FAQs.
Tell us what would make your visit easier
Not every requirement is visible. You are welcome to contact us before booking if more information or a particular arrangement would help you decide whether Fire & Stars is right for you.
Where we reasonably can, we will try to accommodate individual requests, although specific pitches or arrangements cannot always be guaranteed.
Talk to Us Before You BookRespect for everyone
Everyone at Fire & Stars should be able to enjoy their visit without discrimination, harassment or abusive behaviour. We expect guests to treat each other, our team and the woodland with respect.
A note about physical accessibility
Fire & Stars is a natural woodland campsite and currently has genuine limitations for guests with some mobility requirements. We do not describe the campsite as wheelchair accessible.
We would rather provide a clear picture before you book than allow you to arrive without the information you need.
Improving our facilities: We are working on the design of a new toilet and shower block intended to improve accessible provision. The project is still in development, so these facilities are not yet available and no completion date has been confirmed.
If mobility or another access requirement may affect your stay, please contact us before booking. We can explain the routes, distances and current facilities, then discuss what may be practical for your visit.
We want to keep improving
We know inclusivity is not a finished task. As Fire & Stars develops, we will continue reviewing our facilities, information and guest experience to identify practical improvements, while remaining honest about what the woodland site can currently provide.
A visit that supports the place around us
Guest stays help support the ongoing care of our 48-acre woodland, habitat improvements and long-term restoration work. They also contribute to the wider National Forest visitor economy.
We encourage guests to explore local farm shops, food producers, pubs and independent rural businesses, helping the value of a visit travel beyond the campsite.
Talk to us before you book
If you have an individual need, an access question or simply want a clearer picture of the woodland before deciding, please get in touch. Honest information is the best starting point for a comfortable visit.
