Food & Drink
There are excellent independent pubs, farm shops, food producers and small rural businesses around Fire & Stars. We particularly enjoy supporting local farms and countryside businesses that have found imaginative new ways to thrive.
Good food with a story
These are more than convenient stops. Each is a local rural business worth seeking out, whether you are planning a campfire feast, collecting a family treat or making a day of it.
From Greenfield’s
Greenfield’s Farm Shop & Butchers
A farm shop and working butchery at Norton Barn Farm near Twycross. It is a natural place to pick up quality meat, sausages and burgers for the BBQ or firepit instead of buying everything from a supermarket.
Dreamy Cow Farmhouse Ice Cream
When falling milk prices put pressure on the family dairy farm, the Thorp family diversified into farmhouse ice cream. It is made at Culloden Farm using milk from their own cows and can be bought directly from the farm.
From Cattows Farm
Cattows Farm
The Ludlam family has farmed here since 1899. Strawberry growing and pick-your-own began in the 1980s and developed into today’s farm shop, restaurant, seasonal events and visitor destination, surrounded by National Forest planting.
Farm shops, butchers & local produce
Pick up something special for the firepit, stock the cool box or take a taste of Leicestershire home. Please check current opening days before setting off, as smaller rural businesses often have limited hours.

One of the pleasures of woodland camping is cooking outdoors. Pick up meat, vegetables or something special from a local producer, then bring it back to your pitch and turn supper into part of the camping experience.
Each pitch has a firepit and firewood is available from Fire & Stars. Please follow the current fire-risk guidance displayed on site, as cooking arrangements may change during very dry weather.
Local food at Fire & Stars
We regularly welcome local food traders during the camping season, including our popular Saturday evening pizza van. Check what is happening during your stay or ask us when you arrive.
