Woodland Camping FAQs

Most woodland pitches are bring-your-own-tent pitches. We also offer options such as the Woodland Bolthole and dedicated campervan pitches. Compare current prices and pitch types before booking.

Capacity depends on the pitch or accommodation you choose. The current pitch description and live booking information are authoritative.

Woodland pitches are shaped by trees rather than being rectangular field pitches. Check the relevant pitch description, provide tent dimensions where requested and contact us if you are uncertain.

Requests for nearby pitches are welcome and should be added during booking. We will do our best to allocate nearby pitches, subject to availability.

Our woodland pitches are more spaced out than a conventional field campsite, and many feel naturally separated by trees and vegetation. The exact level of seclusion varies by pitch. See the Gallery and Camp Prices pages for a clearer picture.

Yes, where dedicated campervan pitches are available. Check current pitch information and live booking availability.

Fire & Stars operates throughout the year, although individual pitches and options may vary seasonally. Guests are responsible for bringing equipment suitable for the season and forecast.

Hot tents may be used with suitable equipment and safe operation. The guest is responsible for safe use, and all stove and fire use remains subject to the current Fire Safety rules.

Check-in is from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Please do not arrive early because woodland access and pitch orientation are part of arrival.

Contact us as early as possible. Late arrival cannot always be accommodated.

Check-out is by 11:00am.

No. Cars remain in the designated parking area and camping pitches are reached on foot. Trolleys are provided for moving equipment. Distances vary, and some secluded pitches are further into the woodland. See Facilities.

Reception can be intermittent in the woodland. Text, WhatsApp and email are often the most reliable ways to contact the team.

The campsite currently has portable toilets. There is no accessible toilet at present. Read the full Facilities and Inclusivity information before booking.

There are currently no onsite camping showers. Please contact us before relying on any nearby third-party facilities.

Yes. Mains drinking water is available onsite.

Yes. There is a sheltered washing-up station with hot and cold water. See Facilities.

No electric hook-up is provided.

Campfires are an important part of the Fire & Stars experience, but they are always subject to the current Green, Amber or Red Fire Status. When permitted, fires must only be lit in the Fire & Stars firepit provided and must follow current site rules.

Camping pitches have a designated Fire & Stars firepit or fire area, but use is subject to current fire conditions.

Only Fire & Stars firewood should be burned in site firepits. Firewood, kindling and related supplies can be purchased onsite when available.

BBQ use is subject to the current site and fire restrictions. Disposable BBQs must never be placed directly on woodland ground, grass or picnic benches. During Amber and Red, disposable BBQs are not permitted on pitches. The designated stoned communal BBQ and fire area provides an alternative when current rules permit.

Additional precautions or restrictions apply according to woodland conditions. Check the dedicated Fire Safety page for the current operational status before and during your stay.

Yes. Fire & Stars is deliberately family-friendly and deliberately quiet, with space for children and adults to experience the woodland in their own way.

No music is permitted, including speakers, car stereos and musical instruments. Guests may use headphones.

Quiet hours are 10:00pm to 7:30am.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome and should be declared as part of booking. Dogs must remain under control and waste must be removed.

Drones require prior permission from Fire & Stars.

Yes, subject to a suitable pitch. Mention hammocks when booking so an appropriate area can be allocated where possible.

This is natural woodland. Conditions can include uneven ground, roots, leaves, mud, slopes and changing surfaces after rain.

Bring appropriate tent and sleeping equipment, suitable footwear, a torch or headtorch, and clothing suited to the forecast.

Yes. Sauna bookings are separate from camping unless explicitly included in an offer. Sessions are 60 minutes, with community and private options, and non-campers can also book. Book the Woodland Sauna.

Fire & Stars is a natural woodland campsite and currently has significant physical accessibility limitations. Surfaces are uneven, pitches are accessed on foot, and there is no accessible toilet or accessible onsite shower at present. Please read our Inclusivity information.

Contact us before booking if you would benefit from a pitch nearer facilities, a quieter location, information about terrain, sensory considerations or another practical adjustment. We will do what we reasonably can, subject to the site and availability.
